Healthcare Update:

All St. Luke’s Sites

As of today, there are currently 426 patients who have been admitted to St. Luke’s for all medical reasons. There are currently 32 patients who have been admitted due to COVID. St. Luke’s, McCall

A total of 1,956 COVID Test kits have been ordered. There have been 95 positive tests returned in total with 1,861 negative test results returned. For more information about the McCall, St. Luke’s health system and COVID information please visit:

Cascade Medical Center

Continuing testing and trending in a positive way, i.e. numbers going down. No positive tests lately. The center is now offering testing for teachers, school staff, health care workers, and first responders who are non-symptomatic for COVID. Central District Health (CDH)

Things are going well, not many positive cases reported in the last week. The Central District Board of Health will be meeting on Sept. 22 @ 1715 both virtually and in person. Youth Advocacy Coalition (YAC)

YAC will be partnering with CDH to host a virtual mental health series in the future. Ken Jenkins, from ADA county will be in attendance and help to explain the language and understanding of mental health, ways to assess and improve mental health, provide breakout room sessions for group discussion, as well as a wrap up session to tie everything together. 

 

Suicide prevention training 

In order to help the mental health of our community, the Idaho Dept. of Commerce is hosting a suicide prevention training on Sept 22nd alongside Idaho Lives. Please see the link in order to register and learn more:

Schools Update:

McCall-Donnelly School District: 

Some athletic events have been cancelled. The school is continuing to educate/communicate with parents and the public on why the events were cancelled and how this affects the health and safety of all students, coaches and bystanders. 

Government Update:

City of McCall

Working on communications to businesses and the public about the status of mask mandate and next steps. There will be a city council meeting on Sept 24 that will highlight how the city would allow expanding seating for restaurants in the public rite of way. Cascade

People still wearing masks and are accepting the way things are for the time being. Things are going well.

New Meadows

Appointed a new mayor. Limited mask wearing observed in the community.

Business Update:

Hotel McCall

Changing of weather, shorter days, more frosting events happening as well as challenges with staffing. Things still seem to be normal as far as operations from year to year. Numbers for staffing and guest occupancy will likely decrease as we travel into the shoulder and winter seasons.

Brundage

Sent out large email that detailed all the new operations and planning for the winter season and received only a few negative comments.

Rotary Club

Kick COVID Event! During this event you can do 20 min of Exercise for 20 days, donate $20, take time to spend 20 minutes doing something good for your community, OR You can do all three! All proceeds go to scholarships to the MOSS day camp education program. More information and dates to come.

Restaurant Virtual Industry Round Table

27 attendees. Currently looking for funding opportunities in order to have an outdoor dining venue and to have a value-added component for local restaurants, but not a go until the City has a chance to review code regulations and make a decision of viability. Restaurants can contact and communicate with one another downstream and many are still in favor of the mask and other safety mandates.

Marketing Update: 

There will be a social media campaign that will have accurate updates and notifications about COVID and other health care information. The Kindness campaign is still ongoing.
