NOTE: On July 12th, 2017 it was determined that a quorum for this meeting was not achieved. The three votes taken at this meeting were stricken (represented below with a strikethrough) from the record and voted on by proxy on July 12th. All motions passed with quorum via a single consent agenda vote.

    • Discussed NAICS codes and why they are important–drill down on industry elements and important factors for certain businesses
    • Some of our competitive (existing)sectors according to ASAP
      • Veggie and melon farming
      • Power Generation
      • Manufacturing
      • Public Administration
    • Light industry sectors may present future opportunities
    • ASAP should be used as a planning tool, but is not a prescription for economic development
    • All data will be viewed differently by different people/groups
    • Short term planning tool
    • Long term tool to identify infrastructure needs
    • Can help with identifying clusters and merged with Commerce data
    • Should be updated routinely to remain relevant

  • Brief discussion about Housing Trust–they are working towards getting a stand-alone 501c3 with a new attorney. Nothing new to report on tax filing, but Andrew has requested information on several occasions.
  • Approval of June minutes moved by Don, seconded by Lin–motion approved
  • Andrew asked to send ED portal link to council for review and recommendations
  • Update on long-term funding structures–fundraising outreach update
    • Sherry has visited City of McCall–requested $9,000
    • Sherry having conversation with Donnelly on LOT $4k
    • Eric connected with Sabala foundation–all youth sports initiatives but good connection
    • Shore Lodge follow up after apprenticeship discussion
  • Bylaws & Articles updated and ready for approval
    • Geographic area includes Meadows Valley school district
    • Number of members now up to 15
    • Need to get signatures of members for filing–Andrew to follow up
    • Moved to approve articles and bylaws, as amended by Don, seconded by Scotty, approved
  • WCM Community Foundation update
    • Millemann is working on creating and filing this paperwork
    • Community Foundation is now able to start soliciting funds
  • Apprenticeships update: Cascade/McCall schools and chambers
    • Andrew and Tom meeting with Cascade schools July 26th to discuss apprenticeships
    • Need to get meetings with Meadows and McCall-Donnelly and follow up with Chambers
  • ED portal update
    • 3rd layer of portal is mostly complete
    • Need to add bank menu and Meadows Library link
    • Final touches and review of resources is underway
    • Looking for any feedback from community and council members
  • Valley County Pathways is hosting an event on August 5th in McCall–the Mountain Pathways Celebration: http://www.valleycountypathways.org/5k-event/
  • Marketing/branding update–we have 5,000 more visitors guides and trail maps in hand
  • ED Report
    • Grants: Andrew send a $1,000 grant opportunity to Cascade Mobility Team for Cascade signage project–hoping to receive funds
    • Commerce has new reporting metrics with EDPro grant–more robust filings–will need to be merged with existing efforts and some reallocations may need to occur to be compliant
    • Housing–discussions underway on 80 acre McCall parcel and some regional developers have been engaged
    • Economic Summit planning–Andrew and Sherry are working with McCall Chamber Community development group and others to get event finalized and start registration and marketing process
  • Round Table, Upcoming Events & Public Comments
    • Many business owners are aging out and scaling down which makes it tough to sell their business. We should look into resources for assisting with these transitions–perhaps through Commerce BRE team, USDA, MT-ID CDC, or private financing entities
    • Could be a training this fall
